Water Weights is extensively used for the proof load testing of cranes in power and water generation facilities worldwide. During testing of cranes, a significant part of the budget and time is spent transporting and staging test weights to and from the site. Our equipment weighs a fraction of the rated load (approx 1.5%) resulting in savings in both time, and costs during transportation and handling of the test weights.
Also of note, is the important issue of minimal floor loading during the whole process. Testing with traditional methods in the past (especially in the heavy ranges above 100 tons) required reinforcing turbine deck structures to handle the fully laden solid weights. In addition, gradual application of load during testing creates a controlled environment, essential in avoiding accidents and damage to equipment under test.
